I am hemmed in, but not defeated.
The enemy surrounds, but hope is not lost.
Against the ropes, against all odds.
The hits keep coming, my will severely tossed.
…I will fight.
I’m the underdog, the last to be chosen.
Overlooked, considered small.
The outlook, bleak.
The horizon, hazy, yet I’m determined to walk tall.
…I will fight.
The blows have taken their toll.
My muscles ache with pain.
It seems more are against me than are for me.
But the truth shall prevail again.
…Still, I fight.
I’m misunderstood, passed over.
No one listens, not one lends their ear.
All seems lost, all but gone.
Grasping to hope, gasping for air.
…Yet, I will fight.
What’s this, the enemy has been nicked!
An entry point for my violent blows.
He recoils in pain as my fortitude progresses.
My discipline begins to show.
…I will fight.
Just then, a blow to my esteem and worth.
I kneel in pain to the ground.
My reality of defeat before me
I dare not make a sound
…Shall I fight?
…Fallen to the mat… the 10 count begins…
I roil in pain, considering my options.
Stay down and defeated, or rise to face him once again.
You see now I know the enemy’s weakness.
I know his fists of horror and pain.
…Must I fight?
I know I can outlast him.
I know the toil in which I’ve trained.
When I’m caught Below the Line.
Gratitude shows me how much I’ve gained.
…I must fight.
I must act with grace and courage
And trust in His unfailing might.
I must progress with resolve and passion
From the morning to the night.
…I rise, I fight!
I summoned my discipline
And swing a blow of grace
I tried to right the wrongs I’ve done
While standing in my place.
…I rose, I fought.
The enemy now under my control
Now fallen to the ground.
Now his 10 count has begun,
Not one will make a sound.
…Will he fight?
Ten…
He roils in pain.
Nine…
His eyes twitch upon the mat.
Eight…
His hands now firmly planted.
Seven…
Ready to rise and meet me where I’m at.
Six…
But, alas, he can’t!
Five…
His counter is too weak.
Four…
His training unmatched to mine.
Three…
His future now seems bleak.
Two…
He musters up his remaining strength.
One…
He’s too weak and lays helpless in the ring!
The referee waves the fight be over
Victory now mine to bring.
…I have fought.
The challenge once seemed too daunting.
Too much for me to win.
But with my mindset locked on my purpose.
I live to fight again.
