When all is said and done, there are really two kinds of people in this world: those who go after what they want… and those who don’t.  There is no middle ground.  You’re either one or the other.  And, in a twist of fortune and fate, you get to decide which side you land on.

‘Wanting’ is built into us.  As small children, we express our wants.  As we get older, we begin to dream of things.  As we mature even more, we set goals, aspirations, and dreams we want to attain and accomplish.  We imagine a bigger future.  We imagine what’s possible for us.

And, this is the point where the ‘Y’ in the road starts.  This is where people begin to separate.

One group commits themselves wholeheartedly to the pursuit of their desires.  They face down obstacles with unwavering resolve, refusing to be hindered by fear, adversity or the odds that may be stacked against them.  These people embody the courage to do what so many others are unwilling to do: endeavor with total commitment to create what they envision…they make their vision a reality.

The other group either makes feeble attempts or makes no effort at all.  Confronted with obstacles…be it fear or discomfort…they conjure up excuses to evade the struggle.  And, if they do make an attempt, it’s often half-hearted, lacking the dedication needed to persevere, which eventually leads them to quit.

The crux lies not in the grandeur of one’s dreams, but in the willingness to take action towards their dream’s realization.  Often, this is the sole distinction between these two groups.

Your future is yet to be written…your role in it yet undetermined.  Each day, you wake up and get to decide how to shape it through your aspirations, decisions, and actions which ultimately are guided by your courage and commitment.

In one version of your future, you go after what you want with courage and discipline.  In the other, you don’t.  It’s that simple.

You get to…you have to…decide which kind of person you’ll be, the one who tries, or the one who doesn’t.

You were made on purpose for a purpose.  You matter.  Your role in the future of humanity is key to your success…and ours.  Decide which kind of person you’ll be.  Make your future bigger than your past.  And go after what you want…go after who you’re called to be.

And live on purpose today.
