I’ve come to realize that the phrase “take your time” means two very different things.
On one hand, when an annoying salesperson or marketer takes your time, they’re stealing.
Time is the ultimate finite resource; time cannot be recreated.
Something irretrievable is gone.
If your time is wasted, there’s no good way to get it back.
On the other hand, when you take your time on something that matters… be it doing the work, or being present, or engaging with what’s in front of you right now, it’s a gift.
For you see, that’s precisely what time is for.
We’re not in a race to check off as many boxes as we possibly can before time runs out. Rather, we take the opportunity to use the time we have to create moments that matter. Those moments connect us, they open doors, they foster relationships, they bring peace.
Those moments, added up, create a life.
Take your time today. Take your time to rest, to read, to call, to connect, to write, to remember. Take your time to do good work, to help others, to offer encouragement. Take your time to see your surroundings, to sense your essence, to pray, to breathe.
Take your time to discover your passion, to find meaning in your moments, to leave a legacy for those around you.
Take your time to live on purpose today.
