Ever consider that the result we want primarily depends on the choice of our behavior?

We can choose, in the moment, to embrace a positive, “Above the Line” behavior and use it for good and resolution.

Or, we can choose to languish with negativity and set up camp “Below the Line” as we sulk in self-pity.

Ultimately, it’s either the presence, or absence, of these behaviors that allow for a life of thriving and harmony, or a life of turmoil and chaos.

Patience: The presence or absence of this behavior will determine whether we stick with a thing or quit before it pays off.

Listening: The presence or absence of this behavior will determine whether we actually understand what someone is saying, or if we come to an assumed conclusion before they are done.

Willingness: The presence or absence of willingness to say ‘no’ determines whether we spend focused time pursuing our purpose, or if we are at the mercy of what everyone else wants.

Influence: The presence or absence of this behavior determines whether we are able to align people toward a mission and move them forward toward a goal, or if we are met with resistance and obstacles.

Courage: The presence or absence of courage determines whether we step into honest conversations that allow for hope and healing, or if we silently fester and harbor ill feelings toward others.

Granted, in life’s situations, there are often two people present in a circumstance.  And you’re smart enough to know you can’t control the other person’s behavior.

You can only control yours.

For your part in the situation, may you skillfully use your behavior to bring peace and resolution to whatever life may throw your way.

And may you live on purpose today.
