Question: Where will you be in 24 months?  “Sheesh, Tony.” You’re thinking.  “Way too early in the morning to be all futuristic for crying out loud.”

Stay with me.  You’ll be somewhere, yes?  How will you feel then?  What will you have accomplished?  Will you be the same person?  Will you be different?

Another question:  Where were you 24 months ago?

You were somewhere, yes?  How did you feel then?  Who were you then?  What kept you awake at night then?  What mattered then?  What did you learn in the past 24 months?  What did you accomplish?  What could you have accomplished?

If you’re reading this, it means you’ve come through the past 24 months to where we are today.  And you’ve achieved that because of one core reason: what you did every 24 hours.

In reality, we don’t live or operate by 24 month increments.  It’s a weird frequency to think about.  It’s a weird question to answer.  But we do live and operate in 24-hour periods.  It’s easier for us to identify what we did yesterday, or what we’re doing tomorrow.  And eventually, each 24-hour period adds up to create a meaningful length of time that directs and changes our lives in one direction or another.

So, how are you living today?  How are you going about this 24-hour period of time?  You’ll never get it back, you know.  Are you wasting it on gossip or envy or being the victim?  Are you blaming others or procrastinating or being lazy?  Are you doom-scrolling through social media or comparing your body image to others or spending money you don’t have on things you don’t need?

Or…

Are you taking responsibility and living with integrity and doing what you said you would do?  Are you showing up on time and finishing what you start and being kind to others and saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’?  Are you living generously and expressing gratitude and delaying gratification for today so you can live a better life tomorrow?  Are you putting your phone down when speaking with others and staying above the line?  Are you turning off CNN (the Crisis News Network) and getting some exercise and handwriting a thank you note?  Have you prayed for our country’s leaders and thanked God for your freedom and paid for the coffee of the person behind you in line?

Today matters.  This upcoming 24-hour period is crucial.  Your next 24 months can’t happen without these next 24 hours.

How will you spend your day?

You were made on purpose for a purpose.  May these next 24 hours be a fulfillment of your being, an expression of your uniqueness, and a blessing to others.
