You can weigh a brick, but you can’t weigh love.
You can get out a yardstick and measure your height, but you can’t measure fear.
You can hold a wallet full of money, but you can’t hold discipline.
Love…
Fear…
Discipline…
Just because a quality is invisible in our physical world, doesn’t mean it isn’t tangible.
Love doesn’t have any less meaning just because you can’t weigh it.
Fear’s grip isn’t any less powerful just because you can’t measure it.
Discipline still has an impact even though you can’t hold it.
And of grief? It doesn’t carry any less pain just because you can’t fathom its depths.
Fulfillment? It has a weighty benefit even though you can’t track it in an account.
Courage? It enables progress and growth even though you can’t store it in a container.
Things like love, focus, empathy, fear, and discipline may lack physical presence like a tree, a mountain, or your body. But these qualities are no less real and often explain more about the quality of your life than anything you can weigh or measure or touch or track.
Embrace these qualities.
Sit with them.
Work through them.
Some are beneficial and easy to navigate.
Some are hard and difficult to traverse.
Do hard things.
Face forward, shoulders back.
The more hard things you get through, the next one doesn’t feel so bad. Overcoming hard things becomes a way of life. And your reaction to them determines your quality of life.
May you face today, and whatever it has in store for you, with a good attitude and a positive mindset.
And may you live on purpose today.
